Sunday oct 8 – Monday oct 9
On Sunday morning I woke up and our family talked about what to do and we decided to go to a museum. So we started walking and when we got there it was closed.  But there was a park close to it so we walked there, and had a snack. While we were eating a snack my dad looked at places close to it and there was a church named  BASILICA DEL VOT0 NACIONAL. So we walked there. The church is over 100 years old. The construction began in 1887 and the style is called “ Neo-Gothic Ecuadorian architecture”.  It was a really big church  with a tower that you could go in. Our family decided to go in it and our journey began by going up 100 and 100 of stairs. When you got to the top of a certain type of stairs, you had to cross a bridge.  After you crossed a very long wooden bridge with lots of people you had to climb straight up stairs. Then there were 2 more flights of straight up stairs. Oh my back hurts. Then you were finally at the top. We walked around the very squishy top for a while then we went back down all of those stairs and had some very good lunch, and saw this baby husky who is the 2 cutest dog I’ve ever seen in my life!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Current day oct 9
It is our last day in Quito, and of course we had to go to the equator.
My favorite part of the day is when the taxi driver came to the equator and when I was standing on the northern hemisphere and the south hemisphere.
Mi parte favorita del día es fue cuando yo estaba de pie en el hemisferio norte y sur.
Adios Quito por 6 meses!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! 😦 😦 😦 😦 😦 ******

Life in Quito

Oct 6 2017
Today is oct 6 2017. My mom woke me up, but I did not want to listen to her.
So I stayed in bed. After a while my mom said, “Get out bed kiddies!!!!”  So I said, “Fine,” and I got out of bed and made my bed. After I walked out of my room and sat at the island in the kitchen with my brother,  my mom said, “What would you like for breakfast ?🥞 It has to be something light because we are going to Parque Carolina,”. I  decided to have toast but my mom said we didn’t have a toaster, so I had a piece of bread  with peanut butter and jam.  I gobbled that up but my brother did not because jam is not his favourite, but he still ate it. Then I washed my dishes and got dressed and brushed my teeth. After everyone was done ✅ we walked over to Parque Carolina ( Carolina park), it is not too long of a walk – it is about  10 minutes.

Yesterday Oct 5 2017 our family went to a church named IGLESIA  DE LA COMPAÑIA DE JESÚS DE QUITO. The church took 160  years to build because it has 53 Kg of gold. It took the people who were making it 3000 times to smash up the gold  because the gold was paint. It is also made out of iron and brick and wood. The church is 400 years old, and the building of it began in 1605. The church was super fancy and had lots of details, it had grapes placed and then covered with a very thin layer of gold paint, and it was placed onto pillars. If you cut the church in half it would be the same thing on both sides. The word for it is perfectly “symmetrical”.
The church had lots of pictures. One of my favorite things about the church. Is that one of the pictures blinked for 15 minutes in 1906, 111 years ago. The people call it a miracle. No one knows why it blinked and we will never find out.
Mi familia va a una iglesia ayer,  nosotros vimos un photo parpadeó por 15 minutos. La iglesia tiene 400 años.
